As 1915 began, hope mingled with the uncertainty brought on by war around the globe. Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, optimism grew as the Panama Canal became fully functional and the Panama-Pacific Exposition opened its doors in February.
At the same time, Robert Noble Burgess envisioned an ambitious future for his Mt. Diablo Park Club, with a newly built golf course setting the stage for a community of summer homes, cottages, and grand estates. Much like Burgess, few people of the time could have anticipated the upheaval that the next ten years would bring—years marked by profound transformation, heartbreak, and ultimately, resilient progress.
David Mackesey, our resident historian, will lead the group to 17 historic sites along the golf course and share fascinating stories from this era. Following the walk, we’ll return to the Court House for a lovely alfresco lunch.
The Diablo Property Owners’ Association in coordination with the Diablo Country Club is pleased to host this Diablo History Tour. All residents, club members and guests are welcome. *Max 100 participants.
